MOBILE TRAINING PROG. FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED) TEACHERS

This intensive one-week, live-in training program is a collaborative undertaking among the DepEd, UP-Special Education Area and the PFRD that aims to train teachers, supervisors, community leaders and other groups handling children and youth with special educational needs.

The program reaches out to children and young people with special needs in the where they have access to the expertise of the educators we train. 


OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

General : To forge partnerships with institutions for inclusion of children and youth with disabilities in education and in mainstream society.

Specific : At the end of the training program, it is expected that the participants will acquire basic knowledge and competencies in :

  1. assessment and identification of children and youth with disabilities aimed at inclusion
  2. organizing, accessing and evaluation of SPED Programs and services for children and youth with special needs
  3. curriculum modifications for inclusion of special learners
  4. inclusive and adaptive teaching methods and strategies for special children and youth
  5. instructional materials development for inclusion
  6. art education, art therapy and culinary arts for special learners
  7. linking and networking with parents, families and community agencies
  8. implementing policies and thrusts of SPED for inclusion in education and society
